New York City Marketing Trip
Recently, all three marketing classes took a trip to New York City. We had 51 out of the 60 marketing students go on this trip. This trip was a really great experience for me, but I don't think I could ever live in a city like NYC. Although, I did have a lot of fun and I really enjoyed myself! The trip began when we left the school at 6:30am. We arrived in NYC around 3pm, and went straight to Times Square! We walked around and shopped for the rest of the afternoon, and then headed to Chinatown. Chinatown was a really cool experience, and I'm glad I was able to get a good deal on the purse I bought for my mom! For dinner that night we ate in Little Italy, and I had my first cannoli ever for dessert! After dinner, we went back to the hotel to relax and hangout. On the next day we started off by going on marketing visits. We were all split up into three groups. I went to JWT, where we met Sara, who actually went to our high school and was in the marketing class. After our visit, we went to Rockefeller Center, where I took a lot of really cool pictures at "Top of the Rock." For dinner that night we went to a barbecue restaurant. After dinner we had about 30 minutes to walk around Times Square again before Spider-Man on Broadway. I went into a store called Modell's, and I ended up meeting one of the actors from the TV show "Awkward." Spider-Man on Broadway was a lot of fun and it was a great first Broadway experience. On the third day, we first went to Carlo's Bakery to start the day, and I got a delicious red velvet mini-cake! After Carlo's Bakery, we went to the 9/11 memorial where we waited for a long time, but it was definitely worth it. Then, we ended the night by walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. On our last day, we went on carriage ride through Central Park and shopped on Fifth Avenue. I'm really glad I went on this trip, and I can't wait until I get to go back again!

OSPS IS OVER!
The OSPS is finally over and it was a great experience for me! Now that it's over, I feel both happy and sad. I feel happy because all of our hard work paid off in the end. The countless days of practicing the morph dance, the lighting, and the constant routine changes all ended up to make something amazing. I'm sad because the biggest event of our class is over, and it's going to be weird not practicing the morph dance everyday. Many of the booths at the OSPS were very pleased with the advertising their business received. Not only did they get their business out there, but the coupons they handed out will bring many new customers looking for good discounts for prom. American Commodore was the biggest vendor there, and they received a lot of publicity. The four male dancers that they brought did a great job performing and it's obvious that they love their line of work. I was very pleased with how the OSPS turned out, and I'm proud to say I was part of such a big project that brought so much success!

OSPS Harlem Shake
The Harlem Shake is a new dance craze sweeping the internet and YouTube world in the past month. All of our marketing classes came together and used this dance/video to help promote the One Stop Prom Shop. The video concept is when one person is dancing with their face covered in a room full of people acting complete normal like nothing is going on. Then, after about 15 seconds, the bass drops in the music and everyone dances. The idea was pitched to our class last Tuesday, we pitched to the other classes on Wednesday, and made the video on Thursday in less than 30 minutes. We were able to release the video the day we got back from our long weekend. On the first day, the video got 898 YouTube views, 205 Facebook views, 45 Twitter retweets, 28 Twitter favorites, and the OSPS Twitter account gained 15 followers. We believe that this video gave us a unique edge on our marketing efforts. Here's a link to watch the OSPS Harlem Shake: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynsnTqn35TI

OSPS Part 2
The big project that I am a part of right now is the One Stop Prom Shop. The One Stop Prom Shop is a prom trade show. It has brought together our Junior DECA class, Senior DECA class, and IMDD class. Everyone is working together to help make this a successful project. The Junior DECA class is doing all the management-related things, the Senior DECA class is taking care of all the social media, and my class, IMDD, is working on the entire feel of the One Stop Prom Shop and the assembly that we will be having on February 26th. We are also split into two different groups, the video group and the morph team. The morph team is a group of 12 people that put together and memorized a couple dances from the game Just Dance. The video group is creating two videos to show at the assembly. One is prom-related interviews, and the other is a prom-related animated video. I'm really glad all of the students from each class have come together to work on this project!
